In this picture we see little four month old Peter being taken care of by his mother. He was brought into the Rota dispensary for malnutrition support. This is a very important aspect of having a clinical officer and staff locally available in the village.
Many children in this part of the world suffer from malnutrition and they are often idenified by the volunteer health care workers in the village and sent to the dispensary. Here the clinical officer and nurses can check the child out, determine the best nutritional supplement to provide and get them started on the road to good growth and development. Good nutrition is imperative for brain development and a strong immune system. Having the clinical officer available so close allows for supervision as Peter’s malnutrition improves. He can also be tested for HIV, malaria, and TB which may all contribute to his poor weight gain as well. Thanks to your donation, Peter has a great chance to grow and develop normally.
